Hotel Huerto del Cura, located in the
heart of the iconic Palm Grove of Elche, continues to strengthen its commitment to
culture, art, and sensory experience as an essential part of its value proposition. On this occasion, the
Els Capellans restaurant becomes a new stage for the dialogue between
gastronomy and artistic creation with the addition of two works by Valencian artist
Juan Olivares, titled
“Un pam de llum” (A Span of Light).
“Un pam de llum” is articulated around light as a central axis, understood not as a simple visual effect, but as a transformative force capable of revealing the invisible. In these works of great chromatic strength, Juan Olivares explores abstraction as a territory for deliberate observation, where painting becomes a record of time and experience.
With a degree in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Juan Olivares has built a unique language throughout his career, consolidating himself as a prominent figure in the contemporary art scene. His training took place in international centers of reference such as L’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre (Brussels), the Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris, the Academy of Spain in Rome, and The Cooper Union School of Art (New York),experiences that have enriched his perspective and pictorial practice.
With nearly thirty years of experience, more than twenty-five solo exhibitions, and a presence at fairs in cities such as New York, Paris, Brussels, Zurich, Mexico City, and Shanghai, his work is characterized by continuous research into pictorial language, understanding painting as a space where matter, gesture, and time engage in dialogue.
With this addition, Hotel Huerto del Cura reaffirms its commitment to art as a fundamental part of its identity, supporting initiatives that not only beautify its spaces but also enrich the visitor's experience. This proposal also highlights contemporary Valencian talent and strengthens the bond between the hotel and its cultural environment.
