The art of pruning the Palmeral de Elche at Huerto del Cura Hotel

The Hotel Huerto del Cura, owned by the Port Hotels chain, is a unique hotel located in the heart of the Palmeral of Elche, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.


The Palmeral of Elche, also known as the Palm Groves of Elche, is a large expanse of palm trees within the city of Elche.


The hotel features more than 600 palm trees within its premises. They spread throughout the garden, around the pool, and blend with the rooms distributed in bungalows, forming a city oasis.


Every year, when summer arrives, it is time to prune the more than 200,000 specimens that make up this peculiar landscape. The hotel’s palm trees are also part of the municipal pruning plan carried out each year.

The pruning of the palm grove combines traditional techniques passed down from generation to generation with modern methods that guarantee the safety and effectiveness of the process. All about the 2nd Charity Gala 'Welcome to Summer' at the Hotel Huerto del Cura

With an exuberant tropical chic atmosphere, on April 26 the Hotel Huerto del Cura celebrated its 2nd Charity Gala 'Welcome to Summer' to benefit the Conciénciate Foundation.



A party to welcome the most anticipated time of the year in which no detail was lacking. An incredible hallway of lights directed attendees towards the pool area. Surrounded by palm trees, flowers and colors, it was the epicenter of the gala.



Attendees were able to enjoy gastronomic stations where there was no shortage of Cuban flavors such as fried cow, Creole rice and mojito. The tropical atmosphere also invaded the music that livened up the evening. A large repertoire of classic and more current bachata, cumbia, salsa and other Latin styles.



This second edition brought together more than 500 people who wanted to enjoy the night while supporting the cause. The Conciénciate Foundation is an entity that promotes social volunteering, thus contributing to improving the quality of life of vulnerable people or people at risk of social exclusion.



One more year, the Hotel Huerto del Cura opens its doors to local authorities, friendly associations, businessmen, civil society and families on an unforgettable night. The Hotel Huerto del Cura celebrates the 2nd Welcome Summer Gala for the benefit of the Conciénciate Foundation

Huerto del Cura hotel, owned by the Port Hotels chain with 11 hotels in the Valencian Community, celebrates its 2nd Welcome Summer Gala on the 26th of april, a charitable event where each year support is provided to an organization recognized for its social work.

On this occasion, proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Conciénciate Foundation, an organization based in Elche formed by young people promoting social volunteering, thus contributing to improving the quality of life for vulnerable individuals or those at risk of social exclusion.

The event consists of a sunset cocktail celebration, featuring gastronomic stations, an open bar, and live music. As a novelty, this year the theme chosen by the organization is "Tropical Chic," aiming to create a complete experience transporting attendees to the tropical coast of Havana. An occasion where typical Caribbean flavors such as plantains, rice, fried beef, or mojitos will be showcased, curated by the mixologist Pipo's Gin.

The Huerto del Cura hotel launches winter acoustic nights with an agenda of new talents

The Hotel Huerto del Cura, property of the Port Hotels hotel chain with 11 hotels in the Valencian Community, launches its Winter Acoustic Nights, a new concept of gastronomic meeting that will be held every Friday in its restaurant Els Capellans to the sound of promising young people acoustic musicals.

Next Friday, October 20, these dinners will kick off, which consist of dynamic menus with dishes in the center of the table, designed to be shared as a couple or in a group. Every week customers will be surprised with new gastronomic proposals and new acoustic voices, reviving international music classics and surprising with new current songs.

Celebrate the Elche festivities from the heart of the palm grove

One more year, the city of Elche celebrates its Patron Saint Festivities from the 1st to the 15th of August. On the occasion of the celebration of the long-awaited festivities, the Els Capellans restaurant, at the Huerto del Cura hotel, and the La Taula restaurant, at the Port Jardín Milenio hotel, have prepared a wide gastronomic offer that highlights the traditional flavors of the city to delight to locals and visitors.

In this first edition, the proceeds from ticket sales will go to AMACMEC, for its 25 years of tireless work to improve the quality of life of women affected by breast cancer.

La Palmera Cobra: The Singular Palm Tree of Elche from the Hotel Huerto del Cura

The Huerto del Cura hotel is located in the heart of Elche's palm grove. This was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on November 30, 2000.
 
This highly significant location gives the hotel a special uniqueness in the province, which is characterized by having other types of tree specimens such as pine, olive or Valencian oak. Among all the palm trees that embrace the facilities of the Huerto del Cura hotel we find the so-called Palmera Cobra, a spectacular Phoenix palm tree that takes its name from its serpentine reptilian appearance. The experts who have studied this specimen of palm tree assure that about ¾ parts are completely horizontal, part of its trunk being even underground, to later rise imperially towards the sky crowning its peculiar physiognomy with abundant clusters of dates, the large protagonists of Elche's gastronomy and especially the Hotel Huerto del Cura, where the renowned 'delicacies of Elche' were born several decades ago. La Palmera Cobra is part of the Route of the Singular Palm Trees of Elche.
 
This route values ​​the Palmeral de Elche and the landscape complex that it forms throughout the length and breadth of the Elche town. The route is made up of 18 palm trees that stand out for their history, morphology or unique beauty. These are located in the historic palm grove, which is also the best-known tourist route in the city. The route is completely free and can be done on foot or by bicycle. It begins at the El Tridente palm tree, passing through the Cobra palm tree until it reaches the Pipas del Travalón Bajo.

The Hotel Huerto del Cura celebrates a new edition of its Bridal Fair in a night full of surprises and romanticism in what is the reference hotel for weddings and ceremonies in the province of Alicante.

Year after year, the hotel raises its level of demand, counting on an increasing number of professionals to offer a wide catalog of suppliers and services to future couples. The Hotel Huerto del Cura (Elche, Alicante) remakes the menu prepared by the celebrities of the new edition of Masterchef Celebrity in the city of Elche in the program broadcasted on Monday, September 19.

The Hotel Huerto del Cura celebrates its 50th Anniversary with a commemorative act to its legacy in the city of Elche

The Hotel Huerto del Cura, owned by the Valencian hotel chain Port Hotels, celebrated on Thursday its 50th anniversary in an institutional act with more than 300 attendees gathered in the greenhouse located in the garden of the same hotel in Elche. The ceremony was attended by the management of the hotel group, as well as the general director of Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana, Herick Campos, the mayor of Elche, Carlos González, and various representatives of entities from Elche and the Valencian Community, such as CEV, Cedelco, IFA and Rotary Club Elche.
 
Toni Mayor, president and co-owner, and Rafael Blanquer, general manager of Port Hotels, opened the meeting by dedicating a few words of recognition to the former property, the Orts family. Likewise, both directors have shared the roadmap of the next projects that the company has devised and launched for the growth of the establishment and the experience of its clients.
 
“Since Port Hotels acquired the Hotel Huerto del Cura in 2019, our mission has been to consolidate and extend the vision of the founding family so that the hotel continues to be an icon of reference for accommodation in its category, a meeting point for the society of Elche and a place to come to celebrate the happy moments of our lives”, explained Toni Mayor at the end of his speech.

Choose your beach in Elche according to your personality

The coast of Elche has six extensive beaches where the north is characterized by its dunes and the south by its pine forests. Beach of fine golden sand , formed by a system that combines recent high dunes, fossil dunes and pine forests of great geological and environmental value. The richness of its seabed and its proximity to the Balsares and Clot de Galvany salt marshes and wetlands, with which it forms a single ecosystem, favor its consideration as an ecological protection area, with interesting native flora and fauna. It has a part classified as a free beach, suitable for the practice of nudism.

THE PINET
It extends along almost two kilometers of fine golden sand on an impressive dune strip, framed by an extensive pine forest that extends towards Guardamar del Segura, to the south, and the Natural Park of Las Salinas de Santa Pola, to the north.

The rector of the University Miguel Hernández (UMH) of Elche, Juanjo Ruiz, and the President of Port Hotels, Antonio Mayor, have signed an agreement of commercial advantages for the university community of the UMH.
